Primary Years Programme Monza
In June 2005 we were authorised to offer the IB Primary Years Programme.
The PYP is a transdiciplinary programme of international education
for students aged from 3 to 12 years. The PYP combines the best
research and practice from a range of national systems with a
wealth of knowledge and experience in international schools. It
creates a transdisciplinary curriculum which is relevant,
challenging and engaging.
The educational framework of
the programme is designed to help students develop the knowledge,
understanding, attitudes and skills necessary to participate
actively and responsibly in a changing world. The programme
encourages and promotes reflection which leads to action as an
integral part of the learning process. By implementing the PYP we
believe we are educating our children to become
internationally-minded people.
The central focus of the PYP is the
Learner Profile which defines ten attributes that are
developed through the PYP curriculum, our school’s environment,
culture and the people in our community. The Learner Profile
continues to be central to learning in the MYP and Diploma
Programs.
Our program is taught in English and the learning of an additional language, Italian, is a requirement of all students from Grade 1 upwards. Students are taught Italian either as a mother tongue language or as a second language, for students coming from other countries.
